Inspired by the faith, love and messages of Paramhansa Ramakrishna, Maa Sharda & Swami Vivekananda, the World Confluence of Humanity, Power and Spirituality was held with great success and acclamation for the last 6 years in Kolkata, first of its kind in the world with conglomeration of great issues on humanity, power (inner & outer) and spirituality. Spirituality awakens humanity, divine attributes, ignites inner power and balances the outer power. It imbibes self- governance to make the world grow and be happy.
Sach Bharat— An India that stands proud through ethics, idealism and self-governance— can be an essential complement for a Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat, and Shikshit Bharat. Building on our strong and wide sense of spirituality that permeates the personal lives of millions of Indians, we believe that Sach Bharat can also be achieved by promoting Spirituality at Work.
Spirituality is not related to a particular religion. It encompasses humanity. It is not a particular ritual or dogma. It is an eternal law of creation. It is inherent in nature. Every human being is divine. God has manifested men and women in His own image with His love and virtues. God was alone. He said “एकोऽहं बहुस्यामि” (I am one, let me become many). Creation is His manifestation. He is our Divine Father, Mother and Friend. Our soul is immortal. We are the individual self. Human beings have infinite power. Inner power needs to be awakened and ignited. One has to listen to one’s own feeble voice of conscience every moment.
Evil has been overcoming humanity, drifting it from the virtues. Today human being is covered with illusion of greed, jealousy, enviousness, lust, anger and so on. Humanity is seized with poverty, terrorism, destruction, tortures by a section, amassing wealth, food adulteration, branding of food with injurious matters, food crisis, global warming, religious fanaticism, financial scam, absolute corruption and global financial scam.
Spirituality is the essence of life. It awakens the inner power and balances the trinity of power – money – authority – muscles. For multiple reasons, spirituality is essential to be practiced at the work , corporate, educational institution, government, public undertakings under government management, other social bodies including NGOs and religious bodies. Spirituality has to be infused in every individual right from bottom to top – a worker to a boss. It is not only individual effort, but collective efforts. Impact of Spirituality at work – however small or big is much more. Thoughts and actions of each individual imbibed with spirituality affect people all around. It has an epidemic impact. Power of collective people does miracles. It has a vibration of joy and spirit of righteous work. Spirituality is to infuse eternal law of Divine to work – work – work hard with devotion for the welfare of self and all with fundamental principle of righteousness for the well-being of all, growth, creation of wealth for generation and welfare. Principle is to live happily and let others live happily. It is not only about individuals but the organization as a whole, society, nation and the world.
It gives insight and intuition in complex business problems. It gives strength to stand with poise during the storms of depression and recession. Every person in the organization gears to the situation without being nervous and losing balance of positive thinking and solution. Character will be built up. Mind is tuned to truth. All will have enthusiasm. It enhances creativity. Energy level increases. It creates fearlessness. It strengthens one in the struggle of life and gives strength to be on the journey of work with joy and happiness. It will be better self-governance. It ignites ethical values, creativity, principles, vocation, and sincerity in work without selfishness, enviousness, jealousy and self-discipline with opposite gender. No laziness, no forgetfulness, no stress. It is just happiness.
Scriptures of all religions give the same message, “Be rich by righteous ways and means, but be simple with austerity, not to waste, not to allow waste, and create wealth to generate wealth, be honest in dealings, thoughts and actions, and work hard and fearlessly. It brings unity in diversity. Law of Creation is unity in diversity. All religions will focus on spirituality. With spirituality poverty can be removed. A righteous person will lead to evolution of an enlightened society. There will be harmony, peace and joy in working.
Swami Chinmayananda calls the world “Cosmic world of cooperative action”. Cooperation has to come from within, from the dharma (righteousness) and culture for genuine cooperative action that is right in what is done, but also righteousness in how it is done. In fact self-governed organizations go much beyond the law, because they believe that right actions bring its own reward, not in just heaven or for liberation but right here in the real world. Every action has its reaction – law of science, physics and chemistry – law of KARMA.
With the infusion of spirituality at work people work hard, give their best with righteousness without craving for motivation and incentives imbibed by Lord Krishna’s message to Arjuna in the Gita. You have right over your respective duty only, but no control or claim over the results. Fruits of work should not be your motive.
KarmanyeVadhikaraste, Ma phaleshoukadachana,
Ma Karma PhalaHeturBhurmateySangostvaAkarmani
कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।
मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि॥
Swami Vivekananda, “Manifest spirituality within you. Mark, if you give up spirituality the result will be that in three generations you will be extinct”.
Similarly the former President of India, Late Dr. A.P. J Abdul Kalam who inaugurated the 4thWorld Confluence of Humanity, Power & Spirituality in Kolkata had rightly quoted at the confluence that “Spirituality can eradicate corruption not legislation”.
Work places are also housed in institutions, and often any institution big or small has a bigger impact than the individual. We go to work to institutions because they can collectively achieve more than we can as individual. Thus, if our institutions become more spiritual as outlined above, they in turn will create a better world around them on an even bigger scale than an individual and thus create a heaven on earth that we all want to see.
To conclude spirituality is the burning need at work for the right attitude towards work, righteousness, devotion to work, commitment to innovation, deep insight and intention, unified cooperation in work, team work, profit with right means/ways not motivated by greed-greed-greed but self-confidence, faith in self and others, peace and harmony, fearlessness, creation of wealth for generation and wealth.
"Mere good governance is not enough. It has to be pro-people and pro-active.Good governance is putting people at the centre of development process".
Shri Narendra Modi
Hon’ble Prime Minister of India
